Accounting services for businesses, contractors, farms, and individuals
Five service lines that cover the year, not just filing season. Each one below explains what it includes and who it suits, so you can tell before you call whether we're the right fit.
Service 01
Tax preparation
Preparation and filing of federal and California returns for individuals, businesses, contractors, and farm operations — accurate, on time, and reviewed by the person who signs it.
What it includes
- Individual returns, including rental property, investment income, and multi-state situations
- Business returns for sole proprietors, LLCs, S corporations, C corporations, and partnerships
- Schedule F and farm-specific reporting for agricultural operations
- Prior-year and amended returns where something needs correcting
- Response to IRS and Franchise Tax Board notices relating to returns we prepare
Who it suits
Anyone whose return has moved past a single W-2 — business owners, contractors with 1099 income, landlords, farm operators, and individuals with investment or multi-state complexity.
Service 02
Tax planning
Looking at the tax position while there is still time to change it, rather than reporting it after the year has closed.
What it includes
- Quarterly estimated tax calculation for federal and California, with payment reminders
- Projection of the year's position before December, while decisions can still move it
- Timing of equipment purchases, retirement contributions, and other deductible spending
- Entity-level planning: reasonable compensation, distributions, and owner draws
Who it suits
Self-employed people and business owners whose income varies through the year, and anyone who has been surprised by a balance due in April.
Service 03
Business advisory
Straight answers on the financial decisions that come up while running a business, from someone who already knows your numbers.
What it includes
- Entity selection and restructuring — sole proprietor, LLC, S corporation, partnership
- Cash-flow review and working-capital planning
- Break-even and pricing analysis
- Support on financing conversations, including preparing the financials a lender asks for
- A second opinion when you're weighing a decision and want the tax consequences spelled out
Who it suits
Owners at a decision point — forming an entity, taking on staff, buying equipment, or considering a change in how the business is structured.
Service 04
Accounting & bookkeeping
Current, reconciled books that produce reports you can make decisions from — and that make filing season a formality instead of a scramble.
What it includes
- Monthly or quarterly bookkeeping in QuickBooks
- Cleanup of prior periods when the books have fallen behind
- Bank and credit card reconciliation
- Financial statement preparation — profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow
- Job costing for construction and trade businesses
Who it suits
Businesses without an in-house bookkeeper, and anyone whose records currently live in a shoebox, a spreadsheet, or a bank feed nobody has categorized.
Service 05
Payroll
Employees paid on time and payroll taxes filed correctly, including the quarterly and annual returns that carry penalties when they slip.
What it includes
- Payroll setup and processing for small teams
- Federal and California payroll tax deposits and filings
- Quarterly returns and annual W-2 and 1099 preparation
- Seasonal and variable crews, including agricultural payroll
Who it suits
Small employers who would rather not own payroll compliance, and operations with seasonal crews where headcount changes through the year.
Good to know
Two things worth saying plainly
What we don't do
We are not licensed to perform attest work. Audits, reviews, and compilations are referred to a partner firm that specializes in them rather than performed here. If that's what you need, we'll point you to the right place.
How fees work
Fees are based on the complexity of the engagement rather than a flat rate, and you get a written quote before any work begins. We don't start work and hand you a bill afterward.
Not sure which of these you need?
Most conversations start with a description of the situation rather than a service name. Tell us what's going on and we'll tell you what it takes.
